Leaving Certificate Candidate Information: Results and Appeal Dates

This communication is also available on the State Examinations Website here: https://www.examinations.ie/misc-doc/EN-EX-44549840.pdf

Dear Candidate,
The 2022 Leaving Certificate results are due for release to candidates through the Candidate Self-Service Portal at 10 am on Friday 2 September. You are aware that the date for the issue of the results this year is later than would be the case in a normal year; there were a number of reasons for this. There was a deferred sitting of the Leaving Certificate examinations in July for students unable to sit examinations in the main sitting in June due to serious accident, injury or illness; close family bereavement, or Covid-19. With increased numbers of candidates, there was a requirement for increased numbers of examiners and this was challenging this year. A further significant factor is that in announcing the arrangements for the 2022 Leaving Certificate examinations, a commitment was given by Government that the outcomes will, on aggregate, be no lower than the outcomes in 2021. This work is currently underway and giving effect to this commitment requires time for detailed analysis of the marking outcomes, implementation of any adjustment, and quality assurance.
We are contacting you at this time to update you on a number of key dates that will be important to you in the coming weeks as they relate to the viewing of scripts and the appeals processes. You should take note of these important dates as the timelines will all be strictly applied.

The timelines this year for candidates to apply to view scripts and to lodge their appeal applications are very short and the deadlines will be strictly applied. This is essential to ensure that the remaining stages of the appeal process can be completed as quickly as possible. The SEC will not accept late applications. Until such time as the number of appeals is known, it is not possible to commit to a specific timeframe for the issue of the appeal results. Every effort will be made to process appeals as quickly as possible. Candidates will be notified of this date as soon as possible.

The State Examinations Commission (SEC) is committed to providing clear and timely information to candidates about the examinations. You will receive a detailed Candidate Information Guide to Results & Appeals which will be emailed to all candidates and published on the SEC’s website in advance of the issue of results on Friday, 2 September. Detailed subject by subject information will be provided in the Candidate Information Guide to your Results by Subject which will be published on https://www.examinations.ie on Monday 5 September to facilitate those who intend to access their marks including their individual component marks.

Lucan Community College’s 2020 graduates return

Some of Lucan Community College’s 2020 graduates paid us a visit last Wednesday afternoon. The Parents Association were collecting the balance of money for Debs tickets (postponed until November with additional backup dates if needed).

Ms Mellet arranged to distribute memory envelopes that some of the students had written in 1st year to their future 6th year selves. There were smiles and laughter as students read out some of their 1st year hopes and dreams and Ms Clarke, Year head and other teachers popped out to say socially distanced hellos.

In his letter to future self Stanko wrote: “I would like to get enough points on the LC for my dream job – Air traffic controller” and is now off to study for this career in DCU.

Ciara asked herself – “did I fail Junior Cert Tech Graph” and was relieved that she hadn’t. She wasn’t so sure if her aspiration to improve her hand writing had been successful as yet though.

Lorcan had wondered: “Will I be the next Usain Bolt”. Not yet he smiled!

Students also sought out teachers to pass on thanks for their support during the remote learning period and throughout their time in school and lovely cards and emails of thanks were received.
Our guidance team was in contact with most of the class of 2020 and were supporting students as they made choices for the year ahead. We are delighted that most of our students are now on a path to further study, training or starting employment. Well done for weathering the storm of Leaving CertIficate 2020.

Congratulations to our students on their Junior Certificate results 2019

Congratulations to our amazing Junior Certificate class of 2019.

Their superb results today were a testament to the hard work put in by the students over their three years of Junior Cycle study.

Huge credit must also go to their teachers who ensured that every student was prepared for their exams in June 2019 but also for their many classroom based assessments (CBAs) that constitute a growing part of the state exams of the new Junior Cycle curriculum.

The smiling faces and tears of joy were wonderful to see as so many were delighted with the results after putting in the hard work.

We hope every student enjoy their celebrations tonight and over the weekend with family and friends before returning to school on Monday morning.

Lucan CC Leaving Certificate Results 2019

Excitement filled the air in Lucan Community College on Tuesday morning as graduates of the college gathered to receive their Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied results. Principal Diane Birnie said that the results were of a very high standard with 14% of the students achieving over 500 points and 40% of students receiving over 400 points. Our Leaving Certificate Applied class received an amazing set of results with 90% of our students receiving either a distinction or merit. Many students celebrated amazing results in specific subjects and teachers and parents joined the celebrations throughout the morning. “The class of 2019 stood out for their support for each other and their strength of character. It is wonderful to see our graduates rightly proud of their academic achievements also”, said Diane Birnie.

The college had 9 students taking the LCA exams and 117 were listed for LC exams. Many of their teachers were on hand to congratulate students on their achievements and to wish them well in their future endeavours. We were also delighted to hear news that some of students have already secured employment and apprenticeships over the Summer.

Parents, guardians, families and friends supported and guided students throughout their second level education and especially during the examination period and the college relies on and appreciates this support and involvement. The college community thanks the students for their contribution to the college during their time here and is confident that the future holds wonderful things in store for them all.

Ms Casey, year head, offered congratulations and best wishes to all of the students and said “I am so proud of them all and I hope they follow their dreams and reap the benefit of their hard work. Remember too that there are plenty of roads to reach the top of the mountain. I will miss them all”. Ms O’Gara was on hand as career guidance counsellor to offer advice to students receiving results and will offer advice again when the CAO offers are published.

Principal Ms Birnie and Deputy Principals Mr Purcell, Mr Brett and Ms Kirwan offered particular congratulations to top Leaving Certificate achievers this year including: Rian Porter, Oisín O’Sullivan, Petra O’Connor, Darragh Bacon, Beatrice Black, Kaitlin Byrne, Luke Neville, David Donnelly, Aoife Mahon and Alex Healy. Other top-achievers include Gayatri Sangra, Kevin Wang, Michael Carron, Olivia Walsh, Isabell Houlihan, Sasha Guha-McMahon, Patrick Quinn, Oisín Forde, Lucy Varney and Emer Kenny. Our top achieving LCA students were Hollie Erskine, Reme Onolememen, Chantal Howe, Joshua Foley and Cammie Chung and who all achieved distinctions.

Many students achieved personal best results and can be proud of their achievements. We remind students who may not have achieved their desired results to engage in the process of viewing and/or appealing scripts through the Candidate Online Self Service Portal and to seek advice from career guidance counsellors and support agencies as there are many paths open to students. We hope that all of our graduates celebrate responsibly and wish them the very best of good luck in the future.

The students will be issued with the first ever Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement later this year which will include details of their final exam grades (following conclusion of the appeals process), results from their English Classroom Base Assessments as well as a profile of student’s involvement in other aspects of school activities. The JCPA marks the widening of the assessment process to reward achievement across a broader spectrum of student learning.
