Excitement of Leaving Certificate Results Day
Lucan Community College Leaving Certificate Results 2022
How lovely it was to welcome back our class of 2022 at lunch break on Friday 2nd September to hear of their wonderful results, something we have missed for the last two years. While students had to access their own results through the student portal, teachers still waited with anticipation to see how their class had got on.
Teachers were thrilled with the strong performance of our students with year and comments like – ‘well deserved’ and ‘the hard work was worth it’ were heard. “The class of 2022 managed a very challenging situation and showed their friendship, community spirit and support for each other throughout their time in school. They thoroughly deserve these results”, said Principal Diane Birnie.
Parents, guardians, families and friends supported and guided students throughout their second level education and especially during the remote learning period. Lucan Community College appreciates and commends this support and involvement. The college community thanks the students for their contribution to the college during their time here and is confident that the future holds wonderful things in store for them all. A big thank you to the Parents Association who arranged to distribute the Debs tickets at the gathering today.
Our teachers adapted to the period of remote learning and ensured that students were well prepared for their exams having access to online resources if they were absent due to illness. Students sought out their teachers to pass on a word of thanks for all of their hard work over the last two years.
Mr O’Connor, year head, offered congratulations and best wishes to all of the students and said “We hope that everyone got what they wanted. They were great, hard-working students and we hope they all go on to great things in the future.” Our career guidance counsellors have made themselves available to advise students about their results and about their CAO offers and appointments can be made by email or phone. Ms Brady, link DP for the year group offered her congratulations to the students also from her new school.
Principal Ms Birnie and Deputy Principals Mr Brett and Ms Malone offered particular congratulations to top Leaving Certificate achievers this year including: Yasmin Aminou and Diarmuid Keher (who achieved maximum points – 625) with Andreea Vasiloi, Marius Furtig Ryttager and Ronak Pathak all achieving over 600 points. 50% of our 144 students achieved over 400 points and many students achieved personal best results in some of their subjects.
We remind students who may not have achieved their desired results to engage in the viewing and appeal process through the Calculated Grades Portal and to seek advice from career guidance counsellors and support agencies as there are many paths open to students. We wish our graduates very best of good luck in the future.

Leaving Certificate Candidate Information: Results and Appeal Dates
This communication is also available on the State Examinations Website here: https://www.examinations.ie/misc-doc/EN-EX-44549840.pdf
Dear Candidate,
The 2022 Leaving Certificate results are due for release to candidates through the Candidate Self-Service Portal at 10 am on Friday 2 September. You are aware that the date for the issue of the results this year is later than would be the case in a normal year; there were a number of reasons for this. There was a deferred sitting of the Leaving Certificate examinations in July for students unable to sit examinations in the main sitting in June due to serious accident, injury or illness; close family bereavement, or Covid-19. With increased numbers of candidates, there was a requirement for increased numbers of examiners and this was challenging this year. A further significant factor is that in announcing the arrangements for the 2022 Leaving Certificate examinations, a commitment was given by Government that the outcomes will, on aggregate, be no lower than the outcomes in 2021. This work is currently underway and giving effect to this commitment requires time for detailed analysis of the marking outcomes, implementation of any adjustment, and quality assurance.
We are contacting you at this time to update you on a number of key dates that will be important to you in the coming weeks as they relate to the viewing of scripts and the appeals processes. You should take note of these important dates as the timelines will all be strictly applied.

This is essential to ensure that the remaining stages of the appeal process can be completed as quickly as possible. The SEC will not accept late applications. Until such time as the number of appeals is known, it is not possible to commit to a specific timeframe for the issue of the appeal results. Every effort will be made to process appeals as quickly as possible. Candidates will be notified of this date as soon as possible.
The State Examinations Commission (SEC) is committed to providing clear and timely information to candidates about the examinations. You will receive a detailed Candidate Information Guide to Results & Appeals which will be emailed to all candidates and published on the SEC’s website in advance of the issue of results on Friday, 2 September. Detailed subject by subject information will be provided in the Candidate Information Guide to your Results by Subject which will be published on https://www.examinations.ie on Monday 5 September to facilitate those who intend to access their marks including their individual component marks.
