Admission to 1st year 2022
Thank you for the many queries about the Admissions process to 1st year 2022. As determined by the Admissions Act, our Admissions Policy and Annual Admissions Notice will be published online near the end of September and our application form for 1st year 2022 will be made available online from 1st October. Parents/guardians will have a 3 week window to return the application form to the front office and receive a receipt of application. We usually hold an Open day every second year, but last year we could only hold a virtual open day due to the pandemic. This year we will arrange to provide online resources and videos to help potential students and parents/guardians discover more about our school and choice of subjects for 1st years.
Incoming 1st year information evening
We held a very successful incoming 1st year information evening on Tuesday 19th January 2021. Over 100 people attended our Teams Live Event. All of the relevant information can be found on our dedicated webpage: Incoming First Years and the recording of the information evening can be viewed here.
Lucan Community College increases 1st year enrolment number for 2021 from 144 to 168
The Board of Management of Lucan Community College at its meeting on Tuesday 14th December 2020 decided to increase the maximum number of places to be offered in First Year 2021 from 144 to 168.
This decision was made in response to the large number of parents who wrote to the Board to request an increase in enrolment. The decision also serves to maintain a steady number of students enrolled from year to year to maximise the teacher allocation and other resources currently received by the college.
Places will now be offered to the next 24 applicants on the Category B waiting list. We ask parents of applicants who intend to accept a place in Lucan Community College to let other schools they either have a place in or are on the waiting list for, know of their decision so that places can be made available for students who are currently without a school place in the area. All second level schools are currently comparing acceptance and waiting lists on the instructions of the Department of Education and Skills in order to ascertain if there are sufficient places for students in the area.
As stated in the enrolment policy, the Board reserve the right to decide the maximum number of places that will be offered in 1st year each year and to make adjustments to the maximum number of students accepted into other year group as it deemed necessary being mindful of the need to ensure overall student numbers do not exceed levels appropriate to the capacity of the school building and safety considerations arising from its design.
Transfer Application period for 2020 is now open
Lucan Community College is now accepting applications for Transfer students. Details can be found on the Admissions/Enrolment page here. Please note that due to increased student numbers in the college no transfer applications were accepted for 2019/20. We will not be in a position to offer places for 2020 until we have confirmed our current student enrolment for 2020. This process may be delayed due to the current Covid-19 restrictions. Please send all queries to admin@lucancc.ie

Please print, address, sign and forward copies of the letters below through any means possible (mail, email, social media) and encourage other people to send them to as many people as possible on the contact list below and to anyone else who may be able to offer representation on our behalf. Lucan CC Open Day October 2016
Thanks to all parents/guardians and prospective students who attended our Open Day on Thursday 13th October. We estimate that there were about 450 families represented on the day. Visitors to the school were offered a guided tour by our current students and received a brochure outlining the various curricular and extra-curricular programmes that are on offer in the college. Each subject area had a display of work done by students and teachers and students were on hand to answer questions from visitors. Parents and students leaving the school commented on how proud our students are of the College and of being a member of our community.
Thanks for members of our Parents’ Association who attended and offered a cup of tea to visitors as well as explaining the importance of parental involvement in our school. We hope that those who visited found out more about what we have to offer and that it will help future students to select most suitable option subjects. Thanks to all of our staff and students who made the event such a memorable occasion.
Reminder: Closing date for applications for 1st year 2018 (current 5th class students) is 4.30pm on Friday 28th October 2016. Any applications received after that time will be categorised as LATE applications and will not be dealt with until all other Categories have been processed.
