Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) at Junior Cycle

FAO Parents of Junior Cycle Students

The Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) programme will be taught to Junior Cycle students starting from 28th February 2023 at Lucan Community College. The lessons will be taught as part of the Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE) Programme and will take place during six SPHE lessons over six consecutive weeks.

The aims of the Relationships and Sexuality Education Programme are as follows:

To help young people understand and develop friendships and relationships

  • To promote an understanding of sexuality
  • To promote a positive attitude towards one’s sexuality and in one’s relationships with others
  • To promote knowledge of and respect for reproduction
  • To enable young people to develop attitudes and values towards their sexuality in a moral, spiritual and social framework.

Our school recognises that you have the primary responsibility for the personal development of your child, and we would like to support you in this role.

If you have any queries in relation to the Junior Cycle RSE Programme please contact the school through admin@lucancc.ie. Otherwise, we will assume that you understand the aims of the Programme, and you are satisfied for your son/daughter to partake in the programme.
