Congratulations to our Junior Drama students who took to the boards last night for their opening night of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The students, all 1st and 2nd year students, looked and sounded like professional actors as they told the time old story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his (spoiler alert) Christmas epiphany.
The cast were amazing, from the back stage crew to the actors. Particular mention must go to Naomi Darcy’s performance, who captured the mean spirited and selfish characteristics of Scrooge so well. Naomi was supported by a spectacular cast of Eva Norton (Bob Cratchit), Roisin Offenhausen (Fred), Niamh Duddy (Ghost of Christmas Past), Emma Kelly (Ghost of Christmas Present) and Sean Curtis (Ghost of Christmas yet to come).
Other standout performers included Matilda Hill (Jacob Marley), Lucia Packham (Tiny Tim), Moira Elises (Mrs Cratchit), Mia Cooke (child Scrooge), Sophie-Belle Ellul (Fezziwig), Niamh Dempsey (Fan), Giorgia O’Toole (Sweetheart of young Scrooge), Rachel Donnelly (Gentleman visitor 1), Nokutenda Zakaria (Gentleman visitor 2) and Jessica Madu (Ben Benjamin).
Huge credit and thanks must also go to our talented directors, Ms Mcloughlin, Ms O’Neill and Ms Nolan. They directors were aided by our very own maestro school play maestro, Mr O’Connor. Thanks also to Ms Denham for her work in creating the set and Ms Freeman for her front of house coordination.
The future of drama in the school looks very bright with this talented bunch of budding thespians.
