First Year History Webinar
All first year History students had a fantastic opportunity before mid-term to attend a fascinating webinar about children in the Irish Revolution 1916-1922, with special focus on South Dublin. Thanks to South Dublin County Council Libraries for organising the events and to historian in Residence Liz Gillis for her engaging talk. Some of the students then produced very interesting bubbles of opinions on Children of the Revolution.
Develop Me Workshops for Transition Year Students
Transition Year students engaged in some great team building and leadership workshops this week. In the course of the workshops students focussed on two critical areas for today’s students – project management and understanding effective teamwork.
Online Oireachtas Workshops
5th year students of Politics and Society had the opportunity to engage in an online Oireachtas workshop. Thanks to Conor Reale for his informative presentation and to our local TD’s for answering our students’ questions on current issues.
Amy Wade selected For Irish Team
We are delighted to celebrate another of our students who has been selected to represented Ireland. Third year student Amy Wade from Class Greta has been selected for the National Taekwon-Do Team to represent Ireland at the upcoming European Championships. Amy has been training consistently for this tournament over the last number of months. This is a fantastic achievement for Amy as she is only 14 and is the youngest member on the team!
The competition takes place from 24th November to 27th November in La Nucia Spain. The team will depart from Ireland on 22nd November and will return on 28th November and we wish Amy and the team every success at this event.
Our annual Arts Week will be back next February – bigger and better than ever! Meetings are already underway to plan this event. Watch this space!
First Year German
In the lead up to mid-term break our first year students created wonderful projects on the subject of Halloween – all in German!
Our senior debating team will take part in their first Concern debate competition against Scoil Mhuire Trim this week. We wish them the best of luck!
Kenwood Young Baker Competition
Some of our students entered the Kenwood Young Baker Competition. They were challenged to create a cake inspired by the theme, Dreams. Best of luck to all students who entered! See below two entries, one from each age category.
Maths Week Competition
And the results are in! Teachers and students were challenged to use their “Maths Eyes” during the recent Maths Week. Congratulations to students Roisin Duddy and Ben Ahuja and to teachers Ms Mellett and Ms Flanagan!
It would be impossible to give reports of every event that is happening in our school each day. Teams continue to train for athletics, badminton, basketball, soccer, gaelic, camogie, hockey etc. Many students take part in clubs – e.g. Geography, Maths, Games. Many more activities will be starting up in the coming weeks including Trad Music Group, Frisbee Club and Diversity Team.
