First Year History Webinar

All first year History students had a fantastic opportunity before mid-term to attend a fascinating webinar about children in the Irish Revolution 1916-1922, with special focus on South Dublin. Thanks to South Dublin County Council Libraries for organising the events and to  historian in Residence Liz Gillis for her engaging talk. Some of the students then produced very interesting bubbles of opinions on Children of the Revolution.

Develop Me Workshops for Transition Year Students

Transition Year students engaged in some great team building and leadership workshops this week. In the course of the workshops students focussed on two critical areas for today’s students – project management and understanding effective teamwork.

Online Oireachtas Workshops

5th year students of Politics and Society had the opportunity to engage in an online Oireachtas workshop. Thanks to Conor Reale for his informative presentation and to our local TD’s for answering our students’ questions on current issues.

Amy Wade selected For Irish Team

We are delighted to celebrate another of our students who has been selected to represented Ireland. Third year student Amy Wade from Class Greta has been selected for the National Taekwon-Do Team to represent Ireland at the upcoming European Championships. Amy has been training consistently for this tournament over the last number of months. This is a fantastic achievement for Amy as she is only 14 and is the youngest member on the team!

The competition takes place from 24th November to 27th November in La Nucia Spain. The team will depart from Ireland on 22nd November and will return on 28th November and we wish Amy and the team every success at this event.

And the results are in! Teachers and students were challenged to use their “Maths Eyes” during the recent Maths Week. Congratulations to students Roisin Duddy and Ben Ahuja and to teachers Ms Mellett and Ms Flanagan!

And Remember….

It would be impossible to give reports of every event that is happening in our school each day. Teams continue to train for athletics, badminton, basketball, soccer, gaelic, camogie, hockey etc. Many students take part in clubs – e.g. Geography, Maths, Games. Many more activities will be starting up in the coming weeks  including Trad Music Group, Frisbee Club and Diversity Team.

We are delighted to announce the winners of our Reading Week Poster Competition for 2023. The standard of talent and creativity was outstanding. Well done to everyone who entered a poster. The overall winners are Ellen Birnie (Junior) and Naoise Murphy (Senior). Congratulations!

Our Second Years are thoroughly enjoying their trip to Barcelona! Thanks to Ms McKelvey and the team of teachers who have travelled with over 140 second year students to give them this fantastic opportunity. @ddletb @LccAssoc
