14th December 2020

Dear Students, Families & Colleagues,

This December marks 35 years of you the College families, students and staff supporting the local St. Vincent de Paul Society. Thank you for your generosity and support over the years. It is really appreciated by the local families who it helps.

The tradition of collecting and distributing hampers to the local community and the subsequent “Secret Bag” collection was initiated and organised by our recently retired colleague, Margaret Ryan, who completed 34 annual collections for the local St. Vincent de Paul conference – for which thank her sincerely.

This year Christmas 2020 sees additional needs for many families in the local community in these difficult and challenging times. It is vital that Lucan Community College continues to support St. Vincent de Paul and their work in our community. Fundraising for the local society has been hugely impacted by Covid-19 restrictions (the cancellation of church-gate collections etc.), so it has never been a more important year to keep up the tradition of supporting St. Vincent de Paul here in Lucan.

On Wednesday 16th of December we are having our annual Christmas collection for the local St. Vincent de Paul society. It will once again take the form of a “secret bag collection” where students will pass around a bag and place in it, some money towards the society. Big or small, all contributions are gratefully appreciated and will go directly into the community to help those in need this Christmas. Please give as generously as possible.

If you are a family in need, the services of St. Vincent de Paul are available to you, so please contact your local branch here in Lucan.

A most sincere Thank You in anticipation of your kindness and generosity, and a Happy and Peaceful Christmas and New Year to all.

Yours sincerely,

Ms. Martina Feeney, Ms. Marissa Mulhern, Ms. Nicola Walsh
