Another wonderful German Exchange took place in Lucan CC this September. On Thursday 5th September two German teachers, Stefan Weigert and Ricky Fränkel arrived in Dublin airport accompanied with their 12 Students from Gymnasium Münchberg to be greeted by their 12 Irish partners and Irish teachers.
An action packed nine days was enjoyed with trips to Causey Farm. Castletown House, Howth, Walking tour of Dublin and not to mention a trip to Bord Gais to see Angela’s Ashes.
Lucan CC welcomed our German friends for our 27th German Exchange. Teachers gave special classes in History, Geography, Baking, Irish Music, Irish Dancing, Irish Language and Irish Sport. Thanks to all our staff for preparing and giving these classes, for accompanying students on the various trips and for showing hospitality.
A special thanks to Mr. McDermot, our former Deputy Principal, for his annual walking tour of Dublin with our German friends. Thanks also to Darren Tully, a past pupil of LCC and who was also part of our German Exchange many years ago, who led our students on an interesting tour around Lucan.
We warmly thank our fabulous parents for hosting the new addition in their family. Our visitors certainly felt at home and spoke kind words to their Irish mums and dads at our farewell party on Thursday 12th September. A rose was given to each mum as a thank you. Without our parents this Exchange could not take place. Danke.
Thanks to Ms. Williams and Ms. Clarke for hosting our German visiting teachers. It was an absolute pleasure. Well done to our German Department for their continuous dedication and commitment to this wonderful successful Programme. It is a fantastic opportunity for our students to be part of this ongoing Exchange and this years group all look forward to their return trip in February.
Danke, Danke, Danke – Colette Clarke
