Arts Week takes over the College

Arts Week took over Lucan Community College for the week before midterm break for 5 successive days.  Arts Week is our chance as a school community to celebrate the visual, dramatic and creative arts.

Throughout the week students took part in workshops including Rapping, African Drumming, Animation, juggling, podcasting, song-writing and Drama. They also enjoyed a lunchtime disco provided by 6th year music enthusiasts, Josh Keating and Jack Colgan.

On the Thursday evening, a Variety Show organised by Mr. O’Connor and Miss McLoughlin, showcased a range of talents from the students of Lucan Community College. The standard of talent was incredible. Well done to all involved!

The finale of Arts Week 2018 took place on Friday the 26th October when staff and students participated in a dress-up day. This years theme was Decades, encouraging students and teachers to choose their favourite decade and get creative with their costumes.

Staff and students alike made a fantastic effort with their costumes. Some of the nostalgiac figures included The Tellytubbies, Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Carl Frederickson from the film ‘UP’.

Quiz Master Morris did a fantastic job organising the whole school quiz for Friday afternoon and Miss Mc Loughlin did fantastic work organising the great lucan staff Halloween bake off competition.

The Arts Week committee of Ms Gallagher, Ms Howley, Ms Mulhern, Ms Suttle and Miss Horrican would like to thank everyone for their participation in Arts Week. We hope it was an enjoyable week for all.

We are delighted to announce the winners of our Reading Week Poster Competition for 2023. The standard of talent and creativity was outstanding. Well done to everyone who entered a poster. The overall winners are Ellen Birnie (Junior) and Naoise Murphy (Senior). Congratulations!
