Languages Connect: The German Exchange in Lucan Community College

Lucan Community College started our German language exchange programme with Gymnasium Münchberg 27 years ago in 1991.

Since then our continued partnership with Gymnasium Münchberg has seen hundreds of Lucan Community College students deepen their understanding of the German language while gaining an appreciation of the German culture and making long lasting friendships that have stood the test of time.

This video, featuring students, parents and teachers from Lucan Community College, explains just why taking part in this language exchange programme has been so integral to the educational experiences of the students involved throughout the years.

We thank the German Language department, Ms Clarke, Ms Williams and the many teachers who have been a part of the German exchange programme over the last quarter of a century. It has been with your dedication and commitment that this rich student-centred programme has been able to flourish.

Less than a quarter of the world speaks English. Learning languages opens doors to the other three-quarters – and a world of hidden opportunities.

Ryan Lally from Grá Pizza ran a great workshop today on pizza making as part of a wellbeing promotion, and also talked about setting up your own business and all about buying good Irish ingredients. Staff and students were delighted with the pizzas! #wellbeing #buyIrish @ddletb
