Lucan Community College is delighted with the high standard of results that our students achieved this year. We had one hundred and forty graduates this year, including Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied candidates, and we wish to congratulate each and every one on their achievement today. Teachers were on hand this morning to congratulate students on their achievements and to wish them well in their future endeavours.
We also wish to thank parents/guardians who were a wonderful support to the students throughout their second level education and especially during the examination period. We have really appreciated their involvement and support. The college also thanks the students for the wonderful mature attitude they brought to their last few weeks in the college and is confident that the future holds wonderful things in store for them all.
Ms Twyford year head, sent congratulations and best wishes to all of the students. Ms Williams, LCA coordinator was extremely proud of the LCA results this year and Ms Murphy, LCA student support said that these were some of the highest results ever achieved by an LCA class.
Principal Ms Birnie and Deputy Principals Mr Purcell and Mr Brett offered particular congratulations to top achievers: Ilkom Khamdamov, Aoife Greally, Aine Keher, Dean Gahan Connolly, Louise Day, Eoin Hayes, Rory Stapleton, Luke Murphy, Lucy Freeman, Evan Lombard, Emma Donnelly and Hannah Keating. With 10% of the students achieving over 500 points and many more achieving well over the national average, most students should be in a position to receive offers of desired courses in further education.
Ms Birnie said “The class of 2017 were a very committed group of students who achieved in many spheres including academic, awareness-raising, artistic, sporting and other endeavours. They are the leaders of the future and I look forward to hearing about their future endeavours as students and entrepreneurs”. She also commended the Leaving Certificate Applied students of class Harrington who as a class achieved 4 distinctions and 9 merits – “an outstanding set of results and particular congratulations to Jordan Tackaberry, Ciara Kavanagh, Rebecca Flanagan and Dylan West who achieved the highest LCA results in the college.
Many other students also achieved personal best results and should be proud of their achievements. We remind students who may not have achieved their desired results to engage in the process of viewing scripts and to seek advice from guidance counsellors and support agencies as there are many paths open to students. We hope that all of our graduates celebrate responsibly and wish them luck in the future.
