September 2016 was the introduction of Enterprise to many eager TY students in Lucan CC. Brainstorming, researching on the internet and guest speakers were some ways student came up with ideas for their new business. Students learned about prototypes, market research and business plans as as part of the Enterprise programme.

There were many groups but three groups stood out and all three were selected to represent Lucan CC in the South Dublin Finals of the Student Enterprise Awards 2017.

Company 1: My Experience – this is a company set up by Rhiannon Withero and Kaitlyn Byrne to assist TY students in their search for work experience.

On Wednesday the 8th March all seven girls along with their teachers Mr. Lawless and Ms. Freeman ventured to IT Tallaght for the judging. Great time and effort had been spent by the girls preparing for this and it paid off when the girls set up their displays and showed off the efforts of all their hard work. Each groups stand was visited by two judges and the groups were asked many questions about their business and business plans.

Throughout the year the girls worked extremely hard and put a huge effort into creating and building their business, their business plans and preparation for the judging.

After a busy day and a tense awards ceremony the business “My Experience” run by Rhiannon and Kaitlyn won the prestigious “Most Innovative” award in the Senior Category.

Huge congratulations are due to all three groups for all their hard work throughout the year. Well done girls and continued success to all of you in your bright futures!
