Busy times in LCC

Many students are off-site on educational trips facilitated by their hard-working teachers including the following: TY Spanish trip to the IFI followed by Tapas!, LCVP trips to the library and Chocolate Factory, TY Geography classes trips to the OSI and the beach in December! Senior Art classes visited IMMA recently.

Many in-school workshops that occur in school compliment the many forms of learning and development of all of our students – Music iPad workshops; 1st, 2nd and TYs all participated in the ‘Childwatch’ internet safety workshops in school; TY CSI workshops; 6th year students are being given the opportunity to listen to visiting speakers form many different colleges and universities during their weekly class of Career Guidance; French Theatre workshops… to name a few.

 

Great news stories regarding Sports in LCC:

Basketball Girls U16 and U19 teams have reached the Dublin Finals which will be held in Inchicore next Wednesday 7th December.

Boys Senior Rugby team are playing Pres Carlow in the Leinster ‘A’ Shield Semifinal next Monday 5th December in Kildare.

U19 and U16 Girls Soccer keep on winning…top of their leagues at present after trips to Kilkenny and North Dublin. Great displays from 1st year boys and girls playing in the Futsol league.

Girls Camogie are two from two so far, beating St Mary’s Glasnevin in a thrilling encounter.

Senior boys soccer, having scored 15 goals in the last 2 games, are looking to run away with the title this year again – through to the knock outs with Daniel Grant as top scorer with 9!

U18 GAA footballers are only just beginning their league campaigns. … more to follow.

We are delighted to announce the winners of our Reading Week Poster Competition for 2023. The standard of talent and creativity was outstanding. Well done to everyone who entered a poster. The overall winners are Ellen Birnie (Junior) and Naoise Murphy (Senior). Congratulations!

Our Second Years are thoroughly enjoying their trip to Barcelona! Thanks to Ms McKelvey and the team of teachers who have travelled with over 140 second year students to give them this fantastic opportunity. @ddletb @LccAssoc

Ryan Lally from Grá Pizza ran a great workshop today on pizza making as part of a wellbeing promotion, and also talked about setting up your own business and all about buying good Irish ingredients. Staff and students were delighted with the pizzas! #wellbeing #buyIrish @ddletb

Thank you to our Parents' Association for the fabulous Easter treats which were kindly received by the teachers of Lucan Community College. We are grateful to have a fantastic Parents' Association who do phenomenal work behind the scenes for our school community. @LccAssoc
