Our U-20 boys soccer team celebrated a 2-0 victory against Patrician College, Newbridge on Wednesday 3rd February in the Leinster Senior Cup Semi-Final. Danny McSweeney put the first goal into the net as the Newbridge defense failed to clear the ball from the box. Patrician College increased the pressure on the Lucan team and the defense were put under pressure to keep a clean sheet. Thanks to the solid goalkeeping by Mark Harrington and to teamwork in the defense, Patrician College did not seize their chances to score. In the dying minutes of the second half James Macken passed to Daniel Grant who planted the ball in the back of the net to ensure victory (pictured below). This was an excellent performance from a very strong team. Thanks to Mr Mulready and Mr O’Gorman for managing the team and particular thanks to the parents and students who supported the team on a bitterly cold day. Players of the match were Gavin Kealy and Mark Harrington. Next stop the final!
