Diane Birnie (Principal) and Andrew Purcell (Deputy Principal) said that they are thrilled with the excellent standard of results that students achieved this year in the Junior Certificate with 15% of students achieving 4 A’s or more at higher level.
Particular mention goes to Aoife Greally who achieved 9As in higher level subjects and also to Catherine Carron, Laura Flynn, Evan Lombard, Luke Murphy, Dean Gahan-Connolly, Sarah Smith-L’Estrange and Maissalream Jassim who all achieved at least 6 As.
Results in Maths show that over 72% of students took higher level maths in Lucan Community College which far exceeds the national average of 54%. A staggering 25 A grades (22% of those that took the exam compared to 15% nationally) were recorded at higher level History and 14% of students taking higher level science achieved A grades with 66% of students taking higher level woodwork achieving A or B (compared to 49% nationally).
Well done to all of the parents, teachers and support staff who supported our students in their preparation for their examinations. In short Lucan Community College is extremely proud of this group of students.
