Lucan Community College was extremely happy with the standard of results that our 120 Leaving Certificate students and 14 Leaving Certificate Applied students achieved this year. These students worked hard and faced their examinations with a calm determination to do their best. The teachers who worked with the students to prepare them for the exams congratulated the students on their achievements and wish them well for the future. To the parents who walked with the students throughout their last six years and who supported them through the last few months of the Leaving Cert, the college sends congratulations and thanks.
Mr Purcell, acting year head, stated that he is very proud of the students and says that over 10% of the students achieved over 500 points. He is delighted that all of the hard work has paid off and he wishes them well for the future and thanks them for their involvement in the school.
Ms Birnie offered particular congratulations to top achievers Paul Lombard, Mark Hanley, Gavin Pacini, Sinead O’Keefe, Michael Vu and Jake Monaghan on their wonderful results and to all of our students who achieved over and above expectations. “It is very hard to pick out names to mention this year as so many of our students achieved their personal goal and should be very proud of themselves.” She also mentioned the Leaving Certificate Applied students of class Crean who as a class achieved 9 distinctions and 4 merits – “an outstanding set of results – one of the best LCA groups we have ever had the privilege to work with”.
She said “our students can be rightly proud of their results and should build on them as they begin future studies and a wide variety of careers. To those of you who are a little disappointed with a particular result don’t forget that there are other paths that can lead you to your desired destination and that the support of our guidance staff is on offer to you.”
Lucan Community College wishes the class of 2014 every success in the future and hope that they will always consider themselves members of the wider community of Lucan Community College and come back to visit us often.
