The Board of Management of Lucan Community College at its meeting on Tuesday 14th December 2020 decided to increase the maximum number of places to be offered in First Year 2021 from 144 to 168.
This decision was made in response to the large number of parents who wrote to the Board to request an increase in enrolment. The decision also serves to maintain a steady number of students enrolled from year to year to maximise the teacher allocation and other resources currently received by the college.
Places will now be offered to the next 24 applicants on the Category B waiting list. We ask parents of applicants who intend to accept a place in Lucan Community College to let other schools they either have a place in or are on the waiting list for, know of their decision so that places can be made available for students who are currently without a school place in the area. All second level schools are currently comparing acceptance and waiting lists on the instructions of the Department of Education and Skills in order to ascertain if there are sufficient places for students in the area.
As stated in the enrolment policy, the Board reserve the right to decide the maximum number of places that will be offered in 1st year each year and to make adjustments to the maximum number of students accepted into other year group as it deemed necessary being mindful of the need to ensure overall student numbers do not exceed levels appropriate to the capacity of the school building and safety considerations arising from its design.
Lucan Community College is now accepting applications for Transfer students. Details can be found on the Admissions/Enrolment page here. Please note that due to increased student numbers in the college no transfer applications were accepted for 2019/20. We will not be in a position to offer places for 2020 until we have confirmed our current student enrolment for 2020. This process may be delayed due to the current Covid-19 restrictions. Please send all queries to firstname.lastname@example.org
The enrolment process for 1st year students due to start second level school in August 2021 will begin on Monday 30th September. An Admission Notice has been published on our Admissions/Enrolment page available here.
The admissions/enrolment policy and application form will be published on Monday 30th September and application forms will be delivered to our listed priority primary schools early next week and are also available from the college office. The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 25th October.
Our enrolment policy for 2021/22 and application form will be published on our website on Monday 30th September and will be available for collection from the front office also. We will also deliver copies of the application form to the prioritised primary schools listed in the policy for distribution in 5th classes. The deadline for application for 1st year 2021 is 12 noon on Friday 25th October 2019. The enrolment policy is very similar to previous years with the new inclusion of The Paddocks in our priority geographical area following the result of our enrolment consultation last year and the maximum number of students to be enrolled set at 144 due to our increasing student numbers.
Enrolment is now open for the 2020/2021 academic school year. Enrolment forms can be downloaded from the link below or collected from the college office.
The enrolment policy can also be accessed below by clicking the link.
The final date for application for the 2020/21 school year is 12 noon, Friday 26th October 2018.
As all members of our school community will be aware we have been awaiting the provision of a school extension and refurbishment for over ten years. We now need your support to move the school extension process forward. It appears that it is now delayed in the DES building unit awaiting approval to proceed to Stage 2B. So how can you help? Please print, address, sign and forward copies of the letters below through any means possible (mail, email, social media) and encourage other people to send them to as many people as possible on the contact list below and to anyone else who may be able to offer representation on our behalf. This is a really crucial time in the school extension process and everyone’s support is much needed at this time.

Thanks to all parents/guardians and prospective students who attended our Open Day on Thursday 13th October. We estimate that there were about 450 families represented on the day. Visitors to the school were offered a guided tour by our current students and received a brochure outlining the various curricular and extra-curricular programmes that are on offer in the college. Each subject area had a display of work done by students and teachers and students were on hand to answer questions from visitors. Parents and students leaving the school commented on how proud our students are of the College and of being a member of our community.
Thanks for members of our Parents’ Association who attended and offered a cup of tea to visitors as well as explaining the importance of parental involvement in our school. We hope that those who visited found out more about what we have to offer and that it will help future students to select most suitable option subjects. Thanks to all of our staff and students who made the event such a memorable occasion.
