Lucan CC Open Day October 2016

Thanks to all parents/guardians and prospective students who attended our Open Day on Thursday 13th October. We estimate that there were about 450 families represented on the day. Visitors to the school were offered a guided tour by our current students and received a brochure outlining the various curricular and extra-curricular programmes that are on offer in the college. Each subject area had a display of work done by students and teachers and students were on hand to answer questions from visitors. Parents and students leaving the school commented on how proud our students are of the College and of being a member of our community.

Thanks for members of our Parents’ Association who attended and offered a cup of tea to visitors as well as explaining the importance of parental involvement in our school. We hope that those who visited found out more about what we have to offer and that it will help future students to select most suitable option subjects. Thanks to all of our staff and students who made the event such a memorable occasion.

Reminder: Closing date for applications for 1st year 2018 (current 5th class students) is 4.30pm on Friday 28th October 2016. The French and German orals and music practicals went very smoothly. Upcoming art, engineering and construction practicals and the LCVP exam will be happening within the next 2 weeks. Best of luck to all.

Valentine’s Day Poetry competition poem

Recently the English Department ran a Valentine’s Day Poetry competitionwriters. Congratulations to all the winners. Enjoy this clever ‘Love Poem’ by Darragh Gorman 1st year, Class Slaney:

Love Poem

By Darragh Gorman

When I first met you,

One year ago,

Your good looks engulfed you,

I fell for you so.

Since then we’ve been together,

A love that’s so true

With you I’m not bored and

I never feel blue.

You’re truly the smartest,

You know everything, and

When you play music,

I can’t help but sing.

When I’m not with you,

I feel so alone,

I can’t live without you,

My Sony Experia phone.
