With this in mind, we have developed homework and study policies for junior cycle, have introduced study and motivation skills seminars, parent/student information evenings on homework, study and the processes of learning.

Interesting and appropriate teaching, learning and assessment strategies are used in individual classes, planned and prepared in subject department meetings and discussed and shared in staff meetings.

We have high expectations for our students and encourage students to follow higher level courses where possible. Students are expected to actively engage in learning in the classroom, to try their best at assigned class work and homework, to ask questions appropriate to the learning experience and to study and revise in preparation for assessment.

Ever mindful of the needs of our students we have a strong pastoral care, guidance and learning support programme so that students are supported in their learning and assisted in their development from child to young adult.

Lucan Community College’s Parents Association will host their first meeting of the new school year on the 5th September at 7.30pm. The Parents Association would love to use the occasion of this first meeting to welcome new members, whether your children are in the college already or if they are new students to us.

The Parents Association is great way to get involved in school life, get to know other parents and contribute in a voluntary capacity. As always, the College would like to thank the Parents Association for their continued work over the years and look forward to working closely with them again over the coming year.
