Active Student Learning is Lucan Community College’s School Self-Evaluation focus for 2018-2019
Active learning is a form of learning in which teaching strives to involve students in the learning process more directly than in other methods.
Active learning is the opposite of passive learning and is learner centred, not teacher-centred. It requires more than just listening; the active participation of each and every student is a necessary aspect in active learning.
Students must be doing things and simultaneously think about the work done and the purpose behind it so that they can enhance their higher order thinking capabilities. Active learning should transform students from passive listeners to active participants
