Bake Off: SuperValu’s Yeast Cookery School visit for 5th year Home Economic students

Our 5th year Home Economics class were treated to a wonderful baking experience recently in the school by SuperValu Lucan. The lucky students were put through their paces by former Lucan Community College student, David Cox, as part of SuperValu’s Yeast Cookery School. We would like to thank both David and SuperValu for providing us with such a fun yet informative day of baking and for the hardworking Home Economics department for facilitating the experience.

Transition Year Graduation 2017

Lucan CC’s TY Graduation Evening and Awards ceremony took place in our school on a balmy Tuesday on the 23rd May 2017 with great fanfare. All of the teachers and tutors as well as Year Head Ms. Casey and Coordinator Ms. Williams are immensely proud of our TY students who graduated that night and now move on to their Leaving Certificate studies after the summer break. As a group the Transition Year students involved themselves in so many aspects of the year including not just their curricular studies but a huge number of extra-curricular and charitable events. After all of this fun-filled but rewarding work over the course of the Transition Year we wish the students a well-earned break before they return to us at the end of August.

Lucan Community College’s Parents Association will host their first meeting of the new school year on the 5th September at 7.30pm. The Parents Association would love to use the occasion of this first meeting to welcome new members, whether your children are in the college already or if they are new students to us.

The Parents Association is great way to get involved in school life, get to know other parents and contribute in a voluntary capacity. As always, the College would like to thank the Parents Association for their continued work over the years and look forward to working closely with them again over the coming year.
