Lucan Community College Parents Association host their annual bingo fundraiser this week in the Lord Lucan Pub on Thursday at 8.30pm.
The bingo extravaganza takes place on Thursday 7th December and all proceeds raised on the night will go towards helping the College with the proposed extension.
The Parents Association will hold their meeting tonight at the slightly earlier time of 7pm.
This is to allow all to be able to make the start of the important Ireland soccer game tonight.
We hope that parents who enjoyed the recent John Lonergan talk may take the opportunity to attend tonight’s meeting.
The Parents Association is a great way to get to know more about the college, the positive role it plays in your son/daughters life and also a great way to connect with other parents.
We hope to see you there.
Special Parents Association Meeting on raising teenagers with John Lonergan this Tuesday November 7th
Lucan Community College’s Parents Association special meeting tomorrow evening will feature John Lonergan, the former Prisoner Governor of Mountjoy for 24 years and current author and motivational speaker, as their guest speaker.
The John Lonergan talk was unfortunately cancelled last month due to Storm Ophelia and we are delighted that we could rearrange this new date with John.
This special Parents Association meeting, focusing on the challenges of raising teenagers, will take place in Lucan Community College on Tuesday 7th November at 7.30pm. All parents are invited to attend and we are sure there will be massive demand for this exciting event so please come on time to guarantee your seat.
John Lonergan will be speaking about parenting from his own experiences. These experiences had led John to recently publishing a book on the topic; Parenting: Raising Your Child in Ireland Today.
At the Parents Association meeting John Lonergan will also speak about his life, his job as Prisoner Governor in the country’s toughest prison as well as the challenges of parenting in modern Ireland.
If you have not yet attended a Parents Association event, please make this your first meeting as it promises to be both informative and entertaining.
All parents and members of the wider school community are warmly welcomes to this Parents Association event and we hope to see you there on the night.
Lucan Community College Parents Association is seeking clothing donations to raise funds for the college. Clothing donations can be dropped off after 9am to the reception area of the college on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th October.

Students can drop off their families clothing donations before 8.55am registration on both days or parents can drop off donations after 9am. Members of the Parents Association will be on hand to collect the items on both days – making it a good opportunity to meet other parents and find out more about the great work the Parents Association does.
We urge all members of our school community to support this great initiative. Hopefully it will give an opportunity to get rid of some wardrobe clutter and raise important funds in the process.

We have just been advised that the Department of Education and Skills review of Stage 2A is now complete. Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board will shortly receive written notification that we can now proceed to Stage 2B. The design team will then begin the Stage 2B work which has as its stated objectives to:
As a community we are absolutely delighted with the news that our much needed extension has moved ahead to the next stage of planning. This represents a huge step forward for Lucan Community College, our students, teachers and parents in getting a school building to match the quality of our teaching and learning. We want to acknowledge the huge effort made by our pupils with their petition and also our Board members, parents and teachers with their individual letters to the Minister for Education and local representatives in getting the extension back on track. We also acknowledge the ongoing work of the DDLETB building team who are managing this process. We sincerely hope it now moves ahead at speed without any further delays.
As all members of our school community will be aware we have been awaiting the provision of a school extension and refurbishment for over ten years. We now need your support to move the school extension process forward. It appears that it is now delayed in the DES building unit awaiting approval to proceed to Stage 2B. So how can you help? Please print, address, sign and forward copies of the letters below through any means possible (mail, email, social media) and encourage other people to send them to as many people as possible on the contact list below and to anyone else who may be able to offer representation on our behalf. This is a really crucial time in the school extension process and everyone’s support is much needed at this time.
