The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Katherine Zappone opened the event giving a powerful speech about the importance of youth empowerment.
There was a short film shown that was made by the Leitrim Comhairle na nÓg group highlighting the importance of staying safe on nights out and how even one punch can kill someone.
The slogan used to reinforce this point was ‘Use your brain, not your fists’ which was followed by a member of An Garda Síochána speaking about how drugs and alcohol can play a big factor in the causation of accidents.
