Lucan Community College will remain closed tomorrow, Monday October 16th, as instructed by the Department of Education and Skills. The Department of Education and Skills has publicly informed all schools, colleges and other education institutions that they are to remain closed on Monday 16th October due to the imminent Storm Ophelia.
The Department’s decision was made following discussions with members of the Government Task Force on Emergency Planning and in light of the advice from Met Éireann on this unprecedented storm.
The Parents Association special event with John Lonergan which was due to take place tomorrow evening in the college is also cancelled.
All Transition Year students due to start their work experience tomorrow are advised to contact their work placements to explain that the school has advised students to remain at home tomorrow for safety reasons. Transition Year students involved in Tenderfoot tomorrow are also advised that it is cancelled tomorrow.
Teachers due to attend PDST inservice training tomorrow are advised that all training has been cancelled.
Lucan Community College will reopen on Tuesday October 17th for all students.
