German Exchange

Preparations are well under way for the German leg of this year’s German exchange programme. Ms. Clarke and Ms. Williams will accompany a number of our TY students to Munchberg Gymnasium next week. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the programme and a very special welcome is expected for all the Lucan CC representatives. In preparation a video has been compiled and edited by Mark Lombard which includes greetings and inputs from many people who have been involved both directly and indirectly with the programme over the last 25 years. Mark is in TY and will be a member of the travelling party. A wonderful Lectern has been designed and made by Mr Carey, one of our woodwork teachers. To mark the occasion this will be presented to the Principal of the school in the Germany as a gift from Lucan CC. A special function in Germany will be attended by the Irish ambassador to Germany, Mr. Michael Collins. We hope everyone involved has an enjoyable and safe trip.

TY Work experience

Our TY students have returned to school after their two week work experience block. The feedback from employers has been excellent. It is great to hear so many great reports of students who have made such a great impression on employers. It is highly beneficial for our students to get this experience.

LCA Interviews

Well done to class Harrington who have just completed their task interviews. Their examiner was very impressed with their communication skills and ability to apply themselves during their interview.

TY Class O’Farrell on TV

The students of class O’Farrell made their television debuts on RTE 2 on Wednesday. They helped former LCC student Christian Tierney to launch an online competition organised by the environmental protection agency called “The story of my stuff”. The competition requires entrants to make a short video segment which raises awareness about the environmental impact of everyday objects such as water bottles, pencil cases, lunch boxes etc.

DCG

Well done to 5th year DCG students, Cathal Greene, Conal Tuohy, Jake Coleman and Rico Leung who are finalists in the DDLETB 3D design competition.
